December 21 2012 Network Blog

Back in July 2007 I created a YouTube video called “December 21 2012 THE END” The primary purpose of the video was to bring attention to the coming events of 2012 and to help promote my website December212012.com. The original video which became very popular very quickly featured a song called “Only Time” by Enya. In March 2009 I was sighted by YouTube for copyright violation and the music was removed from the video. By then the video had received well over 7 million views and was the number one search result for information about 2012 on YouTube.

My original video with the original soundtrack has been copied and re-uploaded many times on various sites all over the web. You can view a Metacafe.com version below. . . but before you do I want you to carefully read and pay close attention to the opening line of text. I will explain later.

About the same time the original music was removed from my video and its search rank was dropped to almost nothing, Sony Pictures began their stealth campaign to promote the soon to be released  movie “2012″. Along with the YouTube hosted movie trailers and the creation of the fictional IHC 2012 survival website, they introduced a blog and YouTube channel featuring a man name Charlie Frost. Played by actor Woody Harrelson, Sony’s fictional 2012 expert has made a number of YouTube videos about the coming events of 2012. You can watch them here.

The first video they published was called “Watch My Animation”. This crudely animated video, which was supposedly created by Charlie Frost himself, is brilliant in its attempt to represent Charlie as an amateur expert on the subject of 2012. When in reality, Sony is the brains behind Charlie Frost and this incredible marketing campaign.

Here’s where in gets interesting. . . After viewing the first few moments of my video “December 21 2012 THE END”, you read the following lines of text.

Never before in history has one date
one moment in time
been so significant to
so many cultures
so many religions
so many scientists
so many governments
and to so many people all around the world

Now I want you to take a look at Sony’s YouTube video and see if you hear any similarities.

Make of this what you will. Did Sony have something to do with getting the soundtrack removed from my video to assist in promoting their own agenda? Are the millions of dollars they stand to make from the movie “2012″ worth taking down someone like me who is trying to get the true word out about 2012, and what about Charlie Frost’s line”remember folks, you heard it first from Charlie Frost”? Did you really?

My YouTube video still gets a lot of views and has brought a number of subscribers to my YouTube channel. Although I could have protested the removal of the soundtrack from the video sighting educational content, the video has ran in complete silence for over six months, but that has now changed. Due to the continuing popularity of the video, I was recently offered $300 by a company named Track One to add their music to my video. I realize that by using their music, they have the right to run ADs on it, but at this point I don’t care. I took the $300 and applied it to my ever increasing hosting costs to keep my sites up and running. After-all, my primary goal is to get the word out about the coming events of 2012.
