Disturbing 2012 News Reports
35 CommentsI seem to be coming across more and more news reports about people doing crazy things in the name of 2012, and I think we’re going to be hearing a lot more of these reports very soon. Here are the two most recent ones:Man: Obama threat for apocalyptic attentionJACKSON, Miss. Wingate scheduled sentencing Nov. 6; Christopher could get up to five years in prison.Prosecutors told Wingate last month that a psychologist had found Christopher mentally incompetent, but the judge ruled otherwise.AndMentally ill man given eight years for slayingEVERETT — A Snohomish County Superior Court judge on Friday wrestled with what to do with a mentally ill man who killed his wheelchair-bound grandfather during a psychotic breakdown.Jody Sands, 34, was convicted in May of second-degree murder in the 2007 ax-beating death of Albert Beasley. Sands, a paranoid schizophrenic, struck his grandfather in the head with an axe in their north Everett home. Before he is released Sands also must be evaluated to determine if he should be civilly committed to the state’s mental health hospital. Before sentencing, Sands thanked his parents for their support. I am oft moved to wonder whether there is some inner mechanism that has now activated and is telling us, as a race, that the end is near.
On the other hand, humanity certainly already senses that the current course of events and future trends sprung from it, are wholly unsustainable. Just a little logic is all that is really needed to see this… even if the recognition is on a subconscious level.
Our numbers have exceeded our support ability. Our governments are corrupt and untrustworthy. Our attempts to rise above ourselves, seems to have been defeated by ourselves.
If 2012 fails us, we may well be moved to it independent of any outside assistance.

Most of the predictions are not going to come true.
I personally think the poles will shift, but not flip. The new south pole will be Ayers Rock in Austrailia. This pole shift will put the earth back to an old position that is was in in the past.
The north pole will be east of Bermuda. The move will cause the usual devistation but not to the amounts that are predicted

How can you produce a website such as this one, full of scare mongering nonsense, and then act almost surprised when people begin to do crazy things in the name of 2012? You, along with all the other 2012 sites that are appearing on a daily basis, are responsible for putting ideas and instilling fear into the minds of impressionable people. People who already have mental health problems, such as those in the article above are probably most at risk from all the 2012 hype but I imagine it will also have a bad effect on young people who may be more inclined to believe all this without questioning the fact that there is no evidence anything at all will happen in 2012.
You obviously feel you are doing us all some great favour by telling us all the things we should fear in 2012, but you should be hanging your head in shame at the effect this will have on people. Enjoy your 3 years of feeling important with your ‘informative’ website and your ridiculous you tube videos, I look forward to you and this site disappearing in 2013, maybe then you will reflect back on just how foolish and irresponsible you have been and maybe then you will accept some responsibility for the things people have done in the name of 2012. -

All things shall come to pass, what will be, will be.
Like the song says: ” There may be trouble ahead, but whilst there’s music & moonlight & love & romance, let’s face the music & dance”.
Chill out folks & enjoy the moment. You’ll never get out of life alive!
Cheers & beers, Mike.

Didnt the same thing happen a the millinian – turning to the year 2000, all the crackpots were on tv saying this was going to happen and we were all heading for a melt down… rubbish..
I personally feel global warming is man made, micro waves are cooking the planet. there are so many satalittes up there, all beaming down the safe wattage into the same footprints, slowly heating up the planet. cancers are now ripe everywhere, we have wireless routers, baby alarms, mobile phones, cctv, all sorts of microwave activity everywhere, combime all that lot everyday, well over the so called safe limits, but who cares, its all money money,
anyway what do i know, thay say microwaves are quite safe, why did we used to get that warning about standing to close when operating a microwave, and dont look into the door when on, dont get them anymore, same material used though… oh well, see you on the other side rob -

In a world of more than 6 billion people – the majority of which are interconnected by computer, it is not unreasonable for “viral” rumours to gain popularity beyond that of any previously known form of propaganda. Preying on the minds of the “impressionable” is nothing new, it’s happened all throughout recorded history.
The degree to which such rumours are received as truth are proportional to the amount of impressionable minds out there. That, to me, is more disconcerting than worry about the date and time of a fate that we’ve all known since the birth of humanity, is inevitable.
Had the Mayan civilization had the foresight to accurately predict our supposed pending doom, it would stand to reason that the same logic could and should have been applied to their own society, however their own plight will not sustain them as a credible witness.
If I were to make a list of individuals and groups of individuals who have “accurately” predicted the end of this world, only to witness that day pass, this page would be filled and the server so taxed everytime it served the page that the site would be shut down.
However, as our “social networks” grow in size, these tidbits of information being spidered by the webbot project are only reflecting the speed at which a rumour can travel along with the unprecedented numbers of people it can reach. It can’t predict anything we don’t already know; it is reading the information we choose to submit. Has 1+1 ever equalled 3? Will it ever? That seems to be the only question we need to be asking ourselves.
Friday the 13th is a popular movie. People like suspense. In fact, our bodies are wired to endure much more drama than our current civilized world can create, so we make up stories to feed that internal wiring and it makes us feel complete. If that same energy were used to run from or fight off a real predator, we’d also feel complete. But we wouldn’t need to make up stories. Tell some remote island tribe that the world will end in 2012. They’ll reply with “the world may end tonight if I can’t run fast enough to get away from the tiger”. Our fear of a planet ravaged by a date in time is only sustained by our need to run from our own tigers, it’s just, we ran far enough away from those predators that we forgot who we are.
There are legions of people who could care less what happens in 2012. Spend some time in their world; you may gain some new perspectives.

The Mayan long count calendar runs in cycles of 5126 years, and is only one of many Mayan Calendars, they are all based on cycles within cycles within cycles, and the Maya NEVER EVER predicted the world would come to and end or would be destroyed by disasters in 2012.
Ever heard of Nostradamus? in the early 90’s , there was numerous films, Tv programs and lots of “people with knowledge” who told us that Nostradamus had predicted the world would end in disaster or war in 1999. -

May Bee,
Wow, you have got to be the most judgmental, self-righteous, shame instilling person I’ve come across in a long time!! God help you if people decide to judge “you” as harshly. None of us are free of faults, and that includes you. If you’re goal is to influence someone, you might want to try a more gentle, tactful approach!
To say that this website is responsible for people doing crazy things is bad logic. Insanity and being corrupted by evil is what is responsible for people doing crazy things.
This website is getting the information out there, which I happen to think is interesting. I’m a Christian, and none of this scares me… I know apocalyptic things will eventually happen, so all this seems to go hand in hand. It’s fascinating, and I love that I can come here and find a summary of articles, videos, news reports, etc. to read. And contrary to what you said, there is LOTS of evidence concerning 2012 – it’s all over this website if you look around.
Whether the 2012 predictions are right or not really isn’t the issue – it’s the “possibility” that’s the issue. No one knows for sure. We shouldn’t just turn a blind eye because we “don’t know.” If we’re all still here in 2013, no one that seriously considered these prophecies should feel silly. The wise person is open minded and considers all things. It isn’t “foolish” to be aware – just the opposite.
My question to you: Since you’re so against this website, why are you making it that much more popular by visiting?? Why are you even here?

End of the world scenarios are as old as the species. There is always a new prediction of calamity right on the heels of the last. Nostradamus was a great one for predicting calamity. The Bible holds predictions for the end of the world, but does not give a date and time. Here are the Mayans and there calendar which ends on Dec. 21, 2012, could it just mean that the calendar runs out then? Not for the doom sayers among us, it is a portent for the end of all things.
Give me a break people! The world will go on, though maybe we will not and I highly doubt that the Mayans or anyone else has the power to predict so accurately the end. If you had given me a more vague point in time, I might have believed more, but predictions of all types are vague things not pin point accurate. Doom and gloom are a good business and it is always easier to see the end around each corner.
If the end is coming, then let it come. But why stir up all the crazies who feel that they have been given license to kill and maim and create whatever havoc they can in the name of impending chaos. The world is a hard enough place to live in without having that threatened by more people telling us it is to end in fire or some other type of horrific way. The only fear I can handle right now is the fear of not being able to pay my rent or get food for my kids, something that may or may not happen has no place in this.

It is not appropriate to try to blame a 2012 theorist for the inappropriate actions of others. I personally am open-minded, though I have no particular motivation to fear or believe in the 2012 forecasts at this point. Even if I did believe them, I wouldn’t have the means to do a whole lot about it.
The concept of Earth one day meeting its untimely fate is not really an extreme idea, when one considers how small we are and how large the universe is.
Perhaps 2012 is trivial; but nevertheless, one thing we can be sure of. The era of humanity believing that it is the unstoppable ruler of all natural life has come to an end.

My greatest fear for 2012 is not the end of days but the possibility of the re-election of Barack Hussein Obama who is trying to destroy the world economy thereby destroying all hope and opening the door to a future more terrifying than death. I prefer death to loss of freedom and world governement lead by an egomanical leftist lunatic. I’m just saying…

I believe that if humanity cannot pull together, stop blaming others for all that is wrong in this world, and just plain accept the fact that all have various beliefs that drive our faiths then we are in big trouble; whether it is the end of the world, or just the end of the world as we know it to be. Instead of spending time convincing people the world will or will not end, perhaps we should keep trying to bring us together and re-establish faith and goodness in humanity. I am no expert (not even close!) but my eyes are open and I believe that loads of trouble are on the horizon and coming soon if we continue to fight amongst each other. We should remain open-minded to all possibilities that could happen! Everyone has their opinion on what is ethically and morally right or wrong, and if we remain driven to change the world into what we each believe is ‘the right way’ then we will continue to fight, have poverty, and destroy that which we each call home. And if you don’t like what your reading or seeing, in any and all subjects, you have the freedom to change the channel or go to another website!
-
Rick E 2570 said on October 6th, 2009 at 3:36 am
Along with the freedom to change the channel or go to another website is the freedom to express our views here. The website has an agenda, a “view” if you will, why are we not allowed to voice our opinions in opposition? You mean only people who agree should post here? Ok. Then I “get it”.
According to your line of thinking, whatever one believes is right, IS right, simply because one believes it. That is extremely short sighted in light of trail of tragedies that we have inflicted on each other since the beginning of humanity.
There is nothing new under the sun. Your cries to have opposing views hushed in favor of “getting along” is how people like Hitler came into power, because people were afraid of conflict and it was “easier” to get along rather than buck the system. It’s one freedom we still have here in these states and the educated people who understand how important it is to exercise that freedom are doing so. In fact, all efforts to thwart that freedom will be met with only more resistance. You can’t claim we should all get along, because we’d then have to agree with your point of view, the very thing you think your speaking against. Let freedom ring. Let everybody voice their opinion, and YES, try to make everyone else agree with them. In a ideal democracy, the most popular idea wins. Anything short of that concept saying alive in this country will result in a place you yourself will not be able to stand, as you are forced to live not under the common sense of majority rule, but the screwed up ideas of a rogue dictator. Read your history. It’s the BEST prediction available.

” may bee” wrote about how stupid these sites are and what people are doing cause of them and putting fear into impressionable people. well be it as it may, people are different and everyone reacts differently given the same situations. but we cant not post these things and just turn a blind eye to it. im sorry, the thought of “the end” might be near just isnt something i can ignore.this is her way of dealing with it, denial, a coping mechanism. the person before her entry and the one after her entry both have the acceptance mechanism.its better to have known of possibilities than walk on blind. i know my mechanism is and will continue to be.. read and study more about it so i can be prepared for such a potentionally catastrophic event. no one can say with a certainty what will happen. there is a lot of science and past cultures all pointing to something. whatever it is i hope it never comes, but i would want to be as prepared as i could be. and if there is nothing that can be done to save myself and my family then amen to the lord and to my ancestors in the heavens, we will see you soon.

ITS THE INTERNET. its only been around a short time and its not the end of the world. thousands of years and geolgists and scientists and researchers have proven facts for now and the years past. this is totally different. thought they cant say what WILL happen to the earth they know several and rare occurances that hapen on the 21st of dec and that you cant deny.. its all just a waiting game to see the end result. so please stop talking about the stupid ” iternet meltdown”. these are NOT the same or in any way close. . .

after you have read these comments re-read smiley’s oct 5th post. getting along, understanding eachother. not conforming or agreeing with the others belief, or denying it, just understanding. peace. a thing that should be, but will never happen. so re-read it til it sinks into your head and with any luck everyone in the world would have done so and came upon an uderstanding…. a peace.
-
Rick E 2570 said on October 10th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
Well put Nate. Peace is what happens when we allow others to have opinions but don’t punish them if they don’t agree with ours. People, for varying reasons, feel compelled to force their views as right and anyone who disagrees is an idiot. All I’m saying is we have an old, old world and this has been going on forever. Our fate, whether 2012 or 2099, is to die and leave this world. So I don’t concern myself much with when, or even how. It’s going to happen but what does upset me is the fear mongering going on in the media and online about how our deaths should now somehow be of more concern than the billions of deaths before us. I think we’ve come to think of ourselves as immortals. Read the obituarires which are full oh evidence to the contrary everyday. If I’m wrong in believing nothing special will happen in 2012, what difference will it have made? No, I’m going to live life to it’s fullest until God decides it’s time for me to come home, when ever that is.
-
Danielle said on October 13th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
I agree with May Bee. I am 16 years old, and I saw a show about this on tv. Although I am not afraid of death, and cerently do not care if the world does end, I find myself unable to stop thinking of this. I am now unable to go to sleep at night because I keep haveing the same night mare; where I am in a grassy field when I see a meter hit. A big gust of hot air consumed the Earth destroyig everything in it’s path. Even if the world does end on that date, or any date, you should not spread it around because if it does end, it is God’s wish. No need to get everyone worked up about nothing.

I recieved a vision several years ago while driveing across a road in Iowa. The vast fields of grains were gone, instead there was no living thing, only an expanse of dry earth with giant dunes. A hot dry wind was blowing. Then the vision was gone. I do not doubt that this vision was given to me for a purpose. Please realize that when this happens wide spread famine is one of the outcomes. Prepare for it!

We, in the flesh as human, are insignificant in the realm of the universe. As most of us remain unconscious in our egoist realities, we place much emphasis in that which is the arena of mass unconsciousness. 2012 is but a number humans established as psychological time and it has no relevance in cosmic consciousness.
It is very possible the widespread insanity humanity blindly grows each day will be our undoing long before anything cosmic or planetary does us in. There is no need to detail our irrational behaviors.
Every one of us has the ability to stop, let go, and become aware of the great harm we impose on ourselves and this planet. Greed, selfishness, hedonism and all the emotional actions and reactions we project are the roots of our wanton self-destructive lives.
However, with each passing day there is great hope and joy that there are likely fellow humans making positive changes through their awakening to all that is – and not to what was or what may be. There are over six billion of us and we all have the choice to let go of our ego’s and allow ourselves to function as loving human “beings.” It is our evolutionary destiny – beyond the forms of our physical bodies and into the formless that is consciousness.
Whether the Earth is here, not here, or it has ended our physical existence through a series of planetary changes is immaterial. Our consciousness will likely continue on in some other form (or not), in some other place. This is the joy of being.

I’m 16 & i really find this topic very interesting.
I mean who are they to predict what our future holds for us?
Some part of me really wants to believe that horrible events will occur in 2012. But Many people are concerned that when 2012 is near that we will eventually see two suns in the sky by the year 2010. The “second sun” that we will supposedly see will be the extra planet that is in our solar system know as “planet X”. Many have said that Planet X will hit the earth by Dec 21, 2012? It will burn every living individual and animal on this earth, and that will b the reason for our death. Two reason’s that kinda make me believe that we will all face our doom in 2012. First, is the fact that the “bible” says that this time around, the earth will be destroyed by fire instead of a flood. Second, i had a dream about this catastrophe, i saw this planet come & burn up the earth like it was nothing. Other than these reason’s i highly doubt that this event will even happen. We don’t know for sure, not even the LORDS ANGELS know. Only GOD himself knows when our time has come. And when that day comes, u will know.-GOd Bless U All, May Peace Be With Yuh.

Everyone has to prepare themselves and examine their conscience, because eventually each human being has to make a choice where he/she wants to spend their eternity at, is it in heaven or in hell. It is time to listen to the call of Jesus Christ to repent while there is still time before it is too late and turn away from living in the darkness of sin which has spread throughout the world like a ghastly contagion. Check out http://www.directionforourtimes.com and purchase the Volumes 1 to 10 and read all of God’s urgent messages of salvation during this brief time of grace. There is only 3 years left to do it. Praise God for His Kingdom comes and His Son Jesus is returning real soon.

This whole 2012 ordeal just terrifies me.
NO one really knows if the world is going to end, and people have been saying that every 6 years or so.
I don’t believe in the bible. I don’t mean to offend Christians.
I don’t believe in the Mayan Calander.
I don’t believe in the Nostradamus prophecy.
Or any other of the scenarios or conspiracies.
I’m starting to believe with all these websites, and movies are trying to make everyone believe it, and putting this crap into people’s heads just to scare them. The media just ran out of movie and tv show ideas.
And the Mayans, they may have been intelligent people just as well as Nostradamus was, but there is no possible way that they had a better understanding of the world all those years ago as we do now.
There is not a day when I don’t think about the date December 21, 2012. It literally drives me crazy because I CANNOT stop thinking about it. I think the reason why I can’t stop thinking about it is because NO ONE, REALLY knows if this is going to happen or not.
-
JJ said on November 2nd, 2009 at 5:37 pm
Just the idea of 2012 and the not knowing seems to have brought about the end of the world on a minute by minute basis for people like Sarah who are terrified already. One thing looks certain, the hysteria alone (which will be stirred to a frenzy by the time the movie comes out) will make Y2K look like a harmless puppy. I, quite frankly, am more concerned about the opportunists out there that will potentially make it a self-fulfilling prophecy that civilization will collapse. Remember how Hitler used Bible prophecy in his propaganda campaign and nearly conquered the world – now that’s terrifying.

Why build a “seed” storage facility ?

I saw the movie yesterday. There was little about the prophecies and less about the Mayans. It dealt primarily with the possible events due to polar shifts and solar flares. The events were catastrophic, however, probably realistic if the disasters happen. It definitely was a movie filled with special effects. There were many “on the edge of your seat” moments.
I don’t think it will make believers of the 12/21/2012 event out of people who are unbelievers. It merely provides images for the possibilities. I definitely would not take children and/or highly sensitive teens to this movie. It is not for the faint of heart.
